Volunteer Profile
Tammy Rust
Tammy's KVMR volunteer career began approximately 2 years ago, when she came in to help answer phones for our thrice annual membership drive. She had met our chief Engineer Paul Paterson who told her about his job here, and it sounded like so much fun she had to come to KVMR to see for herself how things were around here. ...

A Fond Farewell to Charlotte Dawson
Anyone who has called or entered our front office has probably spoken with Charlotte Dawson. Charlotte has been a steady presence Monday through Thursday mornings for the past 6 years, and Thursday November 8 was officially her last day as our receptionist. All of us here at KVMR wish her well in her retirement! ...

Planned Giving and Estate Planning
|
... I'm leaving a gift to KVMR because I admire the cultural leadership and the passionate work of its people. Three decades of KVMR's locally driven growth and evolution proves to me that my gift will be deployed and enjoyed by thoughtful, pragmatic folks.

"Our mission is to create a comfortable restaurant where there is something for everyone," says Ike Frazee of the restaurant he and wife Adrienne started seven years ago. A look at their menu would suggest that they have succeeded. Attending the Louisiana Jazz and Heritage Festival year after year led Ike and Adrienne to a love of New Orleans-style cooking, ...

Volunteering at KVMR... What You May Not Know!
When I think about KVMR and what this radio station would be without volunteers, the simple answer is-it wouldn't be. KVMR has a scant paid staff of about 12 people. Contrast that with a volunteer database that contains over 700 volunteers, and you start to get the picture. Volunteers are the voices you hear on the air 24 hours a day and 7 days a week....

EARTH DAY
We Have Met The Enemy, And He Is Us
Earth Day 2008 offers an opportunity to once again examine how we relate to our mother ship, and what we can do in our own lives to ensure that it continues to function. Throughout its nearly 30-year history, KVMR has held a commitment to promoting a healthy environment, airing programs such as Soundings and The Bioneers. We invite you to join us at a series of free Earth Day events in our region this month, which KVMR will be helping to promote and sponsor.

KVMR Two?
I've been reviewing a study that was conducted a while back by Arbitron and Edison Media Research on the subject of radio's digital platforms-those places you go to receive your radio fix. The study interviewed about 2,000 people to investigate Americans' use of various forms of traditional, online (radio programming delivered on the Internet) and satellite media.

A Message From KVMR's Board
KVMR is available to everyone in our community
I shared a wonderful experience this evening with an entire hall of friends and neighbors. These were folks I have seen around town for years; at the market, the Horticultural Society or town hall meetings. Some I know well. Some I had met before. Some I met for the first time tonight. They were all lovely and welcoming. We packed boxes for Nevada County residents who are currently abroad, serving in the armed forces. ...
