Think Local First!

gvmkt2010.jpgGrass Valley Thursday Night Market

6:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Thursdays, July 1st thru September 2nd
Downtown Grass Valley

It's a Farmer's Market, it's a free concert series, it's a shopping spree, it's a place to see and be seen. The Grass Valley Thursday Night Market is all of this and more. It's one of the great charms of our community where everyone comes together for food, fun, and merriment.

It is a celebration of free enterprise and new ideas blended with heritage craftsmanship and art. Items from around the world and up in the hills! There are street performers and entertainment for everyone in the family.

This heritage event in the heart of the Gold Country blends the town and country elements and attitudes of Nevada County into a neighborly snapshot of our community. In this day and age when most commerce is geared to the automobile and satellite malls, the Grass Valley Thursday Night Marketplace brings the local and regional community downtown to walk, browse, talk meet your friends and neighbors, all in the shadow of a wonderfully historic and colorful downtown. This is the real thing, this is authentic character, the face of our community and it reflects the synergy of those who live here and those who visit or would love to live in our town.

Stop by the KVMR booth during your visit to the market and pick up the latest Listener's Guide or information about the Celtic Festival. We'd love to see you!

Johnny Cash Tribute Show featuring

jcash20100904.jpgJames Garner and his Cash Band

Saturday, September 4th
at the Grass Valley Veteran's Hall
255 South Auburn Blvd., Grass Valley
Doors open at 6:15 PM
Show starts at 7:00 PM

After a sell-out performance in the Spring, The Nevada County Conference & Visitors Bureau is bringing back the Johnny Cash Tribute Show for an encore. Featuring James Garner and The Tennessee Three, this show is one to see if you're a fan of Johnny Cash or just enjoy the great "boom-chicka-boom" sound that Cash pioneered.

Up until his death in 2003, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash had a show business career that span almost 50 years. Johnny Cash was a prolific songwriter and singer whose genres covered country western, rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, blues and gospel music. Cash is the only person to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. In 1968, after many proposals, he married June Carter who came from a family that some describe as 'country music royalty'. They went on to write and perform many songs together until June's death just four months before Johnny's.
