During March 2007, KVMR offered a Broadcast Training Class, open to all community members. The fee was nominal ($125.00) and there were scholarships available. This course was 3 hours per week for 4 weeks. The Program Director, General Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Music Director, Underwriting Coordinator, and Chief Engineer trained the students, each in their areas of expertise. Following the classroom instruction, there were 3 months of on-air mentoring which refined the knowledge learned in the classroom. Mentors were certified veteran broadcasters. During the months of January, February and March, KVMR's News Director conducted an intern program providing instruction in field reporting, collecting audio, digital editing, and research and verification of information. There was also training in live public affairs events where the intern helped produce a live town hall meeting on youth issues. KVMR trained one intern during this time period.
