Devoted to all forms and genres of music, John Deaderick produces "Classical Edge" at KVMR. In rotation with Eric Tomb and Walt Fraser, John can generally be heard the first and third Sundays of the month. He can also be heard on KXPR, Sacramento's NPR affiliate, every Saturday. |

John is a member of the board of directors of The Nevada County Composers Coalition. With composer Terry Riley, John co-authored the libretto for the opera "The St. Adolf Ring," which they performed together in France, Switzerland, and elsewhere. He has written and produced plays for children designed to illumine particular styles or periods of theater history, including Classical Greek comedy, Italian commedia dell'arte, and American film noir. John's treatment of "The Odyssey" as an opera for young people has been set to music by Jay Sydeman and has received funding from the American Composers Forum. Since l980, John Deaderick has pursued a theatrical career, directing or acting in over 70 plays. He has also appeared in television and film, and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. John teaches acting and theater history at Sierra College, Nevada County campus and Drama and English at Pliocene Ridge School. Twice honored for his theater work as a California Arts Council Artist In Residence, John has also garnered three National Endowment For The Humanities Fellowships as well as being named a Fellow Of The American Antiquarian Society. He recently completed a Master's thesis on the relationship between Greek tragedy and Baroque opera. |
