Born on Brighton Street in Grass Valley, California, John Patrick is the son of a Beale soldier and a local girl who met at a U.S.O. dance.

"Being a military brat, I traveled extensively throughout the United States

as a very young man until early adulthood. This exposed me to many cultures and types of music." He mentions Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix, Randy Newman, Tom Waits, as well as authors Kurt Vonnegut, Phillip Roth and Joseph Heller as informative influences.

"Following my father's career path, I've spent time in Hawaii Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Texas, Colorado, and of course California ... including a year living near a missile range in Death Valley, California."

Traveling by car back and forth across the United States, the family always had a radio playing. But no matter where the tour of duty took them, the Patricks always returned to Nevada County, their home. "I've seen these tiny timber, lumber and mining towns in the forest grow into thriving towns of commerce and tourism. Through it all, I'm always surprised by the spirit that comes upon those who venture here. Out of this spirit grew KVMR Community Radio." John Patrick says.

"Being one who loves this community," he says, "I could not but love the station that came from it. I am very proud that I have the honor and privilege of serving this community, both as a letter carrier and as a volunteer broadcaster. I appreciate the people and the area that I serve in both capacities. If you are one of those who enjoy KVMR and the world wide web, I hope I may convey to you a little of our local flavor and beauty on my Local Delivery program."
