Lou Meyer, KVMR BroadcasterGrowing up on the east coast, Lou first sang in his church choir and received vocal and musical training throughout his childhood. He formed his first band at the age of 14 with his brother and some high-school friends. His influences have been international and eclectic. The music in his childhood home consisted of 78 RPM classical, piano and jazz records and 331/3 RPM Frank Sinatra albums and New Orleans jazz. He started listening to pop music in the 50's. His earliest pop song recollection is "Lonely Teardrops," by Jackie Wilson, which he heard at his first sock hop in 5th grade. Buddy Holly, The Ventures, Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, San Francisco sound and the British Invasion super groups all contributed to his musical education. One of his college bands even opened for The Doors. Lou has been exposed to music from around the world over the years and you can listen to some of his favorites on Red Eye Radio once a month.
