Contemporary and traditional folk music

Laurie DesJardins, KVMR Broadcaster and VolunteerThe New Brick Road….. The title is inspired by the Norman and Nancy Blake tune and a tribute to Don Jacobson’s classic KVMR folk show “The Long and Dusty Road”. This Brick Road takes the traveler on a fun and exciting adventure every other Friday morning from 10 until noon, exploring folk and acoustic music. The show features a variety of folk music, mostly from North America, the U.K. and Ireland. You will hear songs that inspire and move you. I am drawn to the poetic and celebrate songwriters whose wisdom and brilliance makes us think. I try to keep the sound eclectic within the folk scene and am very open to your suggestions and requests.

Autoharp master Bryan Bowers

Friday May, 22nd 2009

bbowers.jpg (4,132 bytes)Bryan Bowers is a major artist on the traditional music circuit. A well-known singer/songwriter, he has redefined the autoharp. Bryan has a dynamic outgoing personality and an uncanny ability to enchant a crowd. His towering six foot four inch frame can be wild and zany on stage while playing a song like 'Dixie' and five minutes later he can have the same audience singing 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' in quiet reverence and delight.

For nearly four decades, Bryan Bowers has been to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the 5-string banjo. He presents instrumental virtuosity combined with warmth, eloquence, expression and professionalism.

"This man makes more music from an Autoharp than you can imagine from a 12-string guitar and a harpsichord combined. He has more stage presence and charisma than any stage performer in recent memory." --The Washington Times Click here for Bryan Bowers' web site
